The simulated stained glass dial is actually painted on the back of a piece of plexiglas. This clock has a unique “wood block knocker” above the movement for the strike. The weight cans are rectangular; there are guides to keep them straight, and these also indicate the day of the week.
It has an Hermle movement, with all else designed and built from scratch. The Frank Lloyd Wright influence is obvious. the Baby Grand
My first grandfather clock, this was more of a “furniture” project than a “clock” build.
With the beveled glass door, the mirror back, and because it’s so big and dark, it was difficult to photograph.
It is really beautiful.
