Digital

Digital

‘Ever seen a “Mission-style” wooden digital clock?

Driven by a synchronous motor, this sweet little thing keeps perfect time, and it’s easy to read!

This is essentially a wooden model of a car odometer, but instead of counting 10 - 10 - 10, it counts 10 - 6 - 12.

Each number wheel drives the next, via pinions (that can’t be seen in this rear photo). The wheels are held back by “star-wheel” ratchets so they snap from one number to the next in distinct increments. the Wooden Digital

After I built the Wooden Electric, a friend said, “That’s really cool, but you can’t build a wooden digital clock!”

Oh, yeah?

I’d thought about this before, and had been wanting to build it. That was my queue.
